This year marks the 30^th anniversary of The Coal Institute’s Educational Funding Program and during the past 3 decades, we have donated over 1.3 million dollars towards coal education. This has been accomplished due to the leadership and support of our Officers and Directors as well as the tremendous generosity of the Institute’s membership.

In this celebratory year, we are proud to announce that in addition to our nine scholarships which are paid directly to colleges,the Executive Committee has approved the establishment of two new $2,500 scholarships to be awarded to relatives of members of The Coal Institute.  The criteria for the scholarship applicants is as follows:

The applicant must be the son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter of a member or employee of a company that is a current Coal Institute member.

The applicant will be attending one of the following during the 2024-2025 school year

          A 4-year College or University

           A 2-Year Technical or Community College

          A Vocational or Trade School

The two recipients will be announced at our Summer Trade Seminar in July at Myrtle Beach, and the funds will be available for the 2024 Fall Semester.  The application can be found on our website (click HERE for a word document and HERE for a pdf document) and must be completed and returned (or postmarked) to the following address no later than May 15, 2024 to the Chairman of the Joe Frye, Jr. Educational Funding Committee:
